Black & Veatch selected to deliver detailed design services for Batam Island combined cycle power project in Indonesia
Project will power further industrial and digital growth at Indonesia’s key economic hub on Batam Island
Black & Veatch, a global leader in human critical infrastructure, has been selected by the engineering, procurement and construction company, PT PP (Persero) Tbk, to provide detailed engineering design services for a new 120-megawatt (MW) Combined Cycle Power Plant (CCPP) on Batam Island, Indonesia. The project owner is PLN Batam, a subsidiary of Indonesia’s state electricity company, PLN and follows Black & Veatch’s previous engineering work for major utility companies in Indonesia since the 1970s.
Located in one of Indonesia’s most strategically important industrial and logistics hubs with an official Free Trade Zone on the island, PLTGU Batam Bintan 1 on Batam Island will enhance energy security and support one of the world’s fastest growing economies.

This appointment further reinforces Black & Veatch’s position as a trusted engineering partner for gas-fired generation projects in Asia-Pacific. Black & Veatch's Scope
Black & Veatch will provide detailed engineering design services for the project, including engineering management, design development and the preparation of technical documentation required to support project execution. The company's scope also includes detailed mechanical, electrical and instrumentation along with the development of design criteria, equipment sizing, technical specifications, drawings and related engineering deliverables required for construction.
Further, detailed engineering services will include the preparation of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), system descriptions, electrical distribution philosophy, control logic diagrams, equipment sizing calculations, stress analyses and technical specifications, providing the technical foundation needed to advance project execution.
