Core-Based Ethics and Compliance Program
Black & Veatch manages an industry-leading ethics and compliance program, where we continue to report more than 99% completion of training programs. The program includes training, engagement and enforcement, integrating 17 compliance practices. We also adhere to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other international anti-corruption legislation, such as the U.K. Bribery Act.

Through an internal materiality assessment and review of client sustainability goals, good governance emerged as a key element to be integrated into the Black & Veatch 2020-2023 Sustainability Strategy.
Sustainability Policy Governs Operations and Project Execution
Purpose: Advance sustainability while delivering critical human infrastructure.
Commitment: We will expand the use of sustainability principles into all project execution manuals.
Benefit: Infrastructure that reduces negative outcomes and increases positive outcomes across the economic, social and environmental aspects of a project’s lifecycle.
Business, Ethics & Anti-Corruption
Purpose: Continuously improve management systems that enable and support operating ethically and with integrity.
Commitment: We will maintain an ISO 37001-compliant, anti-bribery management system across BV’s global operations and seek to obtain ISO 37001 certification for three offices per year
Benefit: Maintain our reputation of operating with the highest level of integrity and the highest standards in ethics, morals, fairness and professionalism.

Since 1996, BV’s Land Services and Acquisitions group has provided start-to-finish site acquisition services for national telecommunications carriers, guiding our clients through the complexities of real estate site audits, title, leasing, right-of-way, zoning, and permitting issues. As BV’s Sustainable-by-Design initiative* was gaining traction in 2020, the group volunteered to ideate and pilot sustainability procedures that could be integrated into the group’s standard operating procedures and project execution manuals.

As the COVID-19 pandemic deepened, Black & Veatch joined leading U.S. engineering and construction firms to leverage deep safety expertise and best practices in a campaign to ensure the well-being of crews and office teams facing the outbreak’s complex challenges. The firms formed the NEXT Coalition, which was named Construction Dive magazine’s “Innovator of the Year.”
