As many as 400 million people living in rural India do not have access to electricity. Continued development of India’s power sector is crucial to create economic growth and future prosperity. Black & Veatch experts will provide solutions for developing reliable electricity during Power-Gen India and Central Asia in New Delhi.
The event will feature leading experts from companies that discuss development, supply and delivery of conventional, renewable energy, hydropower, and transmission and distribution projects from around the world.
Despite India’s economic slowdown, electric demand remains strong because of an increasing population and middle class desire for access to the benefits electricity provides. The country’s 13th Five-Year Plan calls for 93 gigawatts of electricity to be needed from 2017-2022. A balanced portfolio of gas, renewables, nuclear, and hydro generation are needed to meet this demand.
Black & Veatch experts bring many years of personal experiences and technical and business knowledge to help India meet its goals. During the event the experts will offer ways to address India’s generation costs, share the best methodology to evaluate new capacity and plant designs, and provide knowledge of how to ensure system reliability by avoiding plant failures.
Optimising the Fuel Supply Chain
Current coal and power markets create a challenging environment for power producers. Black & Veatch’s Greg Tanck will describe the steps required to help power producers reduce the total cost of production by optimizing the fuel supply chain. Session 4B, 6 May, 11.30 a.m. to 13.00 p.m.
Project Lifecycle Optimization
For utilities and central planners who need to secure safe, reliable and low cost power supplies, it is important to evaluate the life cycle costs of power plant options. Black & Veatch’s Anand Pattani will share proven evaluation techniques used to identify optimal power plant design and power system capacity additions. Session 6B, 6 May, 16.00 p.m. to 17.30 p.m.
Overcoming Flow Accelerated Corrosion (FAC)
FAC occurs in around 60 percent of conventional fossil fuel plants and has led to the cause of power plant failures for more than 20 years. Black & Veatch’s Anil Addanky will provide a balanced assessment of how innovative material selection can minimize, and even overcome, FAC events. Guidelines will also be shared that have been adopted by Black & Veatch to help plant owners reduce the effects of FAC. Session 8A, 7 May, 11.30 a.m. to 13.00 p.m.
The combined Power-Gen India and Central Asia, Renewable Energy World India and DistribuTECH India conference and exhibition takes place at the Pragati Maidan exhibition and convention centre in New Delhi, India from 5 to 7 May 2014.
