EXMAR’s regasification barge set to be first FSRU built in China at Wison’s shipyard
Black & Veatch continues to grow its influence in the development of the next wave of offshore gas processing facilities. The company is providing regasification topsides as part of the development of EXMAR’s FSRU (floating storage and regasification unit) project being built by Wison Offshore & Marine (Wison) which recently reached keel-laying.
With the keel-laying for EXMAR’s FSRU, the fabrication and assembly has now moved to the dry dock at Wison’s Nantong shipyard. The FSRU will ultimately be delivered by Wison to EXMAR, one of the leading FSRU providers, under a turnkey EPCIC (engineering, procurement, construction, installation, commissioning) contract. Black & Veatch is providing engineering and procurement services to Wison for the barge’s topside.

“There are a number of LNG projects coming on stream in Australia, southeast Asia and many more underway from other locations from North America to East Africa. Together with what seems to be an increasing trend for more spot-traded LNG, demand for fast-to-market and cost effective floating receiving terminals will remain strong.”

EXMAR’s FSRU will be the world’s first non-propelled, barge-based FSRU and the first FSRU built in China. The FSRU will be equipped with two regasification trains, resulting in a total installed regasification capacity of 600 MMSCFD (million standard cubic feet per day). The project is scheduled for completion by the last quarter of 2016.
Earlier this year, Black & Veatch also announced its lead EPC role on an onshore regasification receiving terminal in southern India.
