Oklahoma project will increase production for Koch Nitrogen Company by more than one million tons annually
Overland Park, Kansas (30 September 2014) -- Black & Veatch is providing engineering and procurement services to Koch Nitrogen Company, LLC for two ammonia plant expansions as well as utility and infrastructure improvements as part of a $1.3 billion expansion of its Enid, Oklahoma facility. The project will increase urea and ammonia production at the facility by more than one million tons a year. Upon completion, the facility will be one of the largest producers of fertilizer in North America.
As part of the expansion project, Black & Veatch is also responsible for granular urea storage, loadout and water treatment upgrades, two new electric substations and power interconnections. The company is also responsible for overall project planning.
“Black & Veatch is bringing our expertise in energy, chemicals and fertilizer plant development to deliver this world-class facility from planning through start-up and commissioning,” said Dean Oskvig, President and CEO of Black & Veatch’s energy business. Black & Veatch began working with Koch Nitrogen two years ago on the conceptual design for the expansion. The company also provided a definitive cost estimate for the overall project. The project is being implemented over the next three years.

- The Koch Nitrogen facility is Black & Veatch’s fourth ammonia fertilizer plant expansion project in the last four years.
