According to MEED, a total of 200 megaprojects with an aggregate value of $1.5 trillion are scheduled to be delivered in the next 20 years in key Middle East economies. Black & Veatch is to discuss the unique and unprecedented challenges this will bring to the region’s project delivery community during the Arabian World Construction Summit (AWCS) in Dubai.
The event will feature speakers representing all high growth Middle East construction markets and the largest region’s project sectors. Black & Veatch has a 90-year history of bringing critical human infrastructure solutions to the Middle East. The company will be present among those who will comprehensively review the opportunities and challenges presented by the unprecedented programme of megaprojects being developed in the GCC, Iraq and the wider Middle East.
A keynote presentation by Mazen Alami, B&V Managing Director for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) will be among the highlights of the summit. His paper, “Wadi Dayqah: More than an engineering project” gives an account of the Wadi Dayqah Dam project. The Black & Veatch led joint venture project is one of the most important and major schemes to be implemented by the Sultanate to ensure sustainability of water resources in Oman. As well as tackling the complex challenge of designing and building Oman’s largest dam, Alami will bring to the fore the project’s broader influence to social and economic prosperity in the region.
Figures compiled by MEED show major projects worth a total of $112 billion are due to be awarded within the United Arab Emirates across 2013 – 2017. The summit will give an exclusive insight to the upcoming opportunities from Dubai’s resurging construction projects market and the recently announced $90 billion investment boost for Abu Dhabi’s infrastructure sector.
