Black & Veatch, in a joint venture with Civmec (BVCJV), will upgrade and expand Western Australia’s largest wastewater treatment plant.
The EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) alliance contract with the Water Corporation will see Black & Veatch return to Woodman Point Wastewater Treatment Plant, with the work to be completed by end of 2019.

The joint venture will design and build the works. The plant’s treatment capacity will increase from 140 million litres a day to 180 million litres a day, and serve 900,000 people when completed. The upgrade also consists of:
- Expansion of existing odour collection and treatment systems;
- New grit removal facility;
- New flow distribution channel;
- New sedimentation tanks; and
- Conversion of the existing batch reactor to a permanent aeration facility.

The contract awarded to BVCJV will commence end of November 2016.
