Black & Veatch executive brings strong record of support for the organization
Marty Travers, President of Black & Veatch’s telecommunications business, has been selected to serve on the March of Dimes National Volunteer Leadership Council (NVLC). The council is responsible for helping to increase the effectiveness of volunteer leaders throughout the country by providing counsel and guidance on national strategy to support the organization.
“Marty is a great example of a successful executive willing to volunteer his time to share his professional and nonprofit leadership skills and experience to develop other successful volunteer leaders and Boards within the March of Dimes. He has served as a March of Dimes Board Chair and Event Chair and has the passion to share his knowledge to benefit new chairs around the country,” said Frank Wall, March of Dimes NVLC Chair and March of Dimes Board of Trustees Member.
Travers first became involved with the March of Dimes in 2008 as a participant in the March for Babies and later joined the March of Dimes Greater Kansas City Chapter. He was the event chairman of the 2010 Kansas City March for Babies event and has also participated in the organization’s Signature Chefs, Bikers for Babies and Nurse of the Year events. He became Vice President of the Greater Kansas Chapter in 2013.
“Marty is committed to building support for the March of Dimes at Black & Veatch and throughout our community,” said Steve Edwards, Chairman and CEO of Black & Veatch.
“His efforts have motivated countless professionals across the organization to participate and support its mission of preventing premature birth.”

“It is an honor and a privilege to be part of an organization that does so much for families across the United States,” said Travers. “I look forward to serving on the national volunteer leadership council and sharing ideas with other members to build support for March of Dimes programs that directly benefit the lives of families.”
