President, Governments and Communities
Mike Orth is the president of the Governments & Communities, which focuses on serving the needs of government clients at the federal and state level, as well as public agencies and utilities at the municipal level. During his 35 years with Black & Veatch, Mike most recently served as executive vice president and managing director of the company’s water business in the Americas, where he guided the company’s growth in supply, storage, treatment, and conveyance. Mike also provided interim leadership of the Technology, Commercial & Industrial sector. He was appointed to the Black & Veatch Board of Directors in August 2022, and also joined the Board of Directors for Bird Electric Enterprises, a Black & Veatch Company, in October 2023. Mike earned a Bachelor of Engineering and a Masters of Civil Engineering from The University of Kansas. Mike has served as the Executive Sponsor for United Way and has a passion about giving back to the communities that our employee-owners live and work in.
