General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Board Secretary
Steve Meck joined Black & Veatch as General Counsel, Chief Compliance Officer and Board Secretary in May 2024. In this pivotal role, Steve oversees all legal affairs, risk management and compliance initiatives across the company’s global business. He also as guides the in-house legal compliance and government affairs business enablement functions.
An accomplished in-house counsel and leader with extensive global experience, Steve has a history of building strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and a proven ability to serve as a trusted and strategic advisor who helps drive business while effectively managing and mitigating risk.
Steve brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the company in the areas of mergers and acquisitions, compliance, claims and litigation, commercial and contracts, environmental, and finance. His experience includes serving as General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer at The Weir Group PLC; Steve also worked in several leadership roles with large mining company, BHP, in Australia and the United States, and with two private practice law firms. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Michigan Law School.
